Ep. 1 - Introduction and welcome to my podcast
welcome to move with the Puma, the podcast, a podcast that looks at everything generation Axe by someone who's generation Axe. We'll talk about things in the 70s, 80s, and right up to today. So sit back and enjoy. Welcome to my very first podcast. This is something that I have wanted to do for such a long, long time. And I think it goes back to the years ago when I was a kid and I always wanted to be a DJ or work on a television station or something. Although that dream never came to fruition. I've actually never stopped talking and offering my personal tastes and opinions about the world of pop culture and entertainment. I'm always the one that's saying you mean you've never heard of, so and so, and you've never heard of that person. How, how can that be? So over the last few months, Like everyone else in the world. I have been sort of re-examining my choices. And everything that's going on in my life due to COVID and how the world is handling this pandemic. Um, and it's really, during this time that I've become nostalgic for things from my past. When I've been talking to my friends, I get the sense that they feel the same way also. You know, we get super excited when the old shows are coming on Netflix or on prime video. More. So when there's a new show on. And COVID has really given us sort of time, particularly myself to reset and think about the things that I've love and things that I want to do. And. Just things that I want to talk about. Um, the world is kind of crazy right now, and it's just a little bit of escapism for me. And a little side project that i've wanted to pursue for a long time And is the main reason that I've sorted of focus this podcast on generation X and how I feel that that has become the forgotten generation. And I'm also getting very tired of everyone assuming that were either boomers or millennials. Which is why I'm going to focus on this, talking about the things I love from the view of a 40 something year old woman. And hopefully I will have some of my friends on this podcast who joined me from time to time. This podcast, we'll touch on things. I love the music. I listened to the movies I watch right back from the 70s up to present day. I will not only talk about the great music from the 80s. I will chat about what's going on in today's entertainment world, but of course, with my generation X take on it. So let's start by giving the textbook Oxford dictionary definition of what generation Axe is. Generation X is the generation following the baby boomers and proceeding the millennials. Researchers and public media typically use the birth years around 1965 to 1980 to define this generation. So as of today, that means you're either between 41. And 55 years old. If you don't fall between those ages, you're not generation X. Even though you probably deep down inside wish that you were. So, let me tell you a little bit about myself before we get this podcast going. I'm a 40 something year old woman. who lives in Toronto? And I have always been. Obsessed with pop culture and entertainment. I grew up in a small town in Southern Ontario. That everyone has probably heard of Niagara falls, but while I was growing up there, I always read. Music magazines, entertainment, magazines. I was constantly watching movies. Watching entertainment shows, and this is all through the 80s and even into the 90s. So I'm a little bit obsessed with everything that happened I had mentioned earlier that. Growing up, I've always sort of wanted to work on the radio. Uh, or been some sort of journalist. So I'm really trying to figure out this whole podcasting way of doing things. And it's like, I can sort of fulfill that childhood fantasy of being on the radio or having some sort of talk show. So bear with me while I get the kinks out of learning how to do a podcast. And I really just want this to be a fun and enjoyable. Show about things that I like doing things that came from the eighties and the nineties and what I've always sort of had an interest in that I think has gone missing, uh, from the podcast world. There's not a lot of shows that are dedicated to people. My age, to people from my generation. It's all boomers and millennials. And I really just want to give a different perspective. On the stuff I grew up with loving. So I hope you'll come with me on this journey. My episodes won't be that long. I promise, but they could be a little rambling. I'm not sure. And, uh, yeah, it's going to be anything that I really want to talk about, but I'd also love some of your feedback and topics maybe that you would like my opinion on or what I think about. So I can be reached at my Instagram handle at MoMA, the Puma podcast. That's M U M a. The Puma podcast. And I would love to hear sort of what recommendations or things that you want me to talk about. So I hope everyone is gonna enjoy the show.
